Bison Victorious: Howard Men's Tennis Secures Win Against Mount St. Mary's
Howard University men's tennis team secured an impressive 5-2 victory against Mount St. Mary's, ending their five-match losing streak against The Mount. The match was held at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol Campus, and Howard proved they were the superior team by winning two out of three doubles matches. The Bison's Justin Cadeau and Marcel Dawson were the team's top doubles pair, defeating Elliot Stevens and Giovanni Abriola of Mount St. Mary's in a 6-4 victory. Meanwhile, Hassimiyou Dieng and Pierce Westbrook picked up the other doubles win for the Bison, knocking off Mount St. Mary's' Ryan Isgett and Luke Papayoanou with a comfortable 6-2 victory.
Cadeau and Dawson's winning streak continued as they both won their respective singles matches in straight sets. Although Westbrook lost his first set, he battled back to win three sets (2-6, 6-4, 7-6). Another standout player was sophomore Daniel Dunac, who won his singles match after dropping the first set. He made an impressive comeback and won the next two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-1.
This win for Howard University brings their overall record to 2-4. The Bison will now head to Cary, N.C. for the annual Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Round Up hosted by North Carolina Central, which is set to take place from March 16-18. Howard's men's tennis team has made an impressive statement with this victory and will undoubtedly look to continue their winning momentum at the upcoming tournament.
