Howard University Golfer Kendall Jackson Wins 2023 Lady Bison Invitational
Howard University's sophomore golfer Kendall Jackson, hailing from Pearland, Texas, emerged as the champion of the 2023 Lady Bison Invitational held at the Baltimore Country Club at Five Farms, shooting 1-under par (71) in the final round of the two-day, 54-hole event.
During the final round, Jackson displayed a remarkable performance, shooting 2-under par (34) in the front nine, and recording 1-over par (37) during the last nine holes.
Kyra Cox, a graduate from South Salem, N.Y., played her best round of the tournament, registering even par (72) in the third round, which included five birdies, including three in the front nine. Meanwhile, Marley Franklin, a newcomer from Los Angeles, remained consistent throughout the event, finishing the last day with 5-over (77).
Cox and Franklin ended up tying for the 10th position on the player leaderboard, posting 13-over par (81-76-72, 229).
The Bison team recorded a score of 41-over par (302-307-296, 905) for the entire event, with a score of 8-over (296) in the last round. However, their crosstown rivals, Georgetown (GU), emerged as the winners of the team event, finishing with 31-over par (299-305-291, 895).
Individually, GU's Megan Gormley and Prakruthi Sastry finished as runners-up, both shooting 4-over par (220) during the three-day tournament.
Howard University's team is set to return to action on April 22 in Daytona Beach, Fla., for the Northeast Conference Championships.
